Lean Change Management - Key Take Aways
I recently read the Lean Change Management book, that has been on my backlog for a long while, and I am already putting some of the ideas into practice!
This book was something that Ro Gorell put me onto. Thanks Ro!
My Key Takeaways
Start with generating insights. Using Lean Coffee, Retro and check-in, can be a lightweight and effective way to do this.
Start with a vision. Favour visual metaphors. Co-create this with your team.
Make things visible. Get feedback on your options and experiments early by those impacted
Involve people in the change and enable co-creation with large group facilitation techniques (thinking lib structures)
Each change will be different. Assess your options. Use tools such as:
Use ADKAR assessment as a tool to support Lean Change, Kotters 8 stage change model (but it doesn't have to be done linearly)
MCKINSEY 7S FRAMEWORK useful to assess impacts and blast radius
Use a sphere of influence diagram map who might support or resist the change, so you can plan strategically
Culture hacking, a practice that has three components: the Crack, the Hack, and the Hacking Zones. Beware the red zone (dangerous hacks)
